TRIBE HISTORY
The Mighty Shawnee tribe of Northpark was founded in the fall of 2004 by
Chief Big Bear, (Eddie Font). Along with co-founding officers, War
Whooper - Wild Boar (Bill King), Wampum Bearer - Howling Wolf (Tom
Ruggieri) and Bead Keeper and Story Teller (Vince Lewis), Chief Big Bear
successfully recruited 18 families for the inaugural year of the tribe.
The tribe has now grown to 32 families and is one of the largest tribes
in the Orange Blossom North Nation.
TRIBE MISSION
The goal is for dads and daughters to be "Pals Forever" with each other
through attending campouts, monthly meetings and just spending quality
time with each other.
CALENDAR YEAR
Each tribal year begins in September with the first monthly meeting and
bonfire at the beach and ends in July with a trip to Wild Rivers.
Those that are wanting to join in September, are encouraged to attend
the Wild Rivers event in July.
MONTHLY MEETINGS
Tribe meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the
Northpark Clubhouse at 7pm. Please send an email to the chief if
you are considering joining the tribe and would like to attend a
meeting.
